Psychologists
KEOMA THORNE
Ph.D., Registered Psychologist (AB)
Dr. Keoma is a registered psychologist and mom of two school-aged kids. She has a reputation for being able to work well with children, youth, and young adults presenting with unique challenges. Dr. Keoma brings years of clinical, research, and teaching experience to Briovi. She has expertise in working with preschoolers, children, youth, and young adults and their families from diverse backgrounds. Using an evidence-based approach, Dr. Keoma delivers assessments, consultations, counselling, and interventions that are comprehensive, strength-focused, and often multidisciplinary. She has expertise in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
In addition, Dr. Keoma is trained in the gold-standard assessment tools for autism spectrum disorder, trauma informed practices, and the Orton-Gillingham Approach. She also has background in the science of reading, gender-affirming care, and school-based assessment, consultation, and intervention.
Dr. Keoma’s warm, welcoming, and supportive nature helps her connect with almost anyone who walks through the door. Collaborating with families, she uses a strength-based approach to address challenges and develop creative approaches that are tailored to the needs of her clients.
When she’s not working directly with clients, Dr. Keoma often gives talks and leads workshops in the community on topics like developing early literacy skills, parenting, childhood anxiety, trauma, and autism spectrum disorder. She’s also an adjunct instructor at the University of Calgary in their School and Applied Psychology program. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, hiking, listening to podcasts, and cooking.
VANESSA RANKIN
M.Ed., Registered Psychologist (AB)
Vanessa is a registered psychologist. She obtained her Master of Education in School and Applied Child Psychology from the University of Calgary in 2022, where she specialized in assessment and intervention with children and youth. Vanessa provides assessment, consultation, and counselling in the areas of learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and emotional regulation challenges. Throughout her education, training, and work experience, Vanessa has had the opportunity to work with clients and families from various diverse backgrounds.
Vanessa previously worked in the non-profit sector, providing support for vulnerable populations. She enjoys continuing to expand her knowledge on childhood development and keeps on top of current research in the field.
Vanessa views therapy as a collaborative process where she works with her clients to acquire the appropriate coping skills for their present difficulties while building awareness needed to handle future challenges. Along with bringing empathy and compassion into her work, she provides a safe and accepting environment. She is passionate about helping others optimize their well-being and confidence. She is trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
MEGAN COOK
M.Ed., Registered Psychologist (AB)
Megan is a registered psychologist. She earned her Master of Education in School and Applied Child Psychology from the University of Calgary in 2022. Megan has over ten years' experience working with children and youth with ADHD and autism spectrum disorder. She also provides services to families through FSCD funding and loves to collaborate with other professionals from various disciplines. Her counselling approach is based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She has worked in both school and clinical settings, providing supports to diverse learners. She has a passion for assessing and implementing interventions for children with learning disabilities, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, executive dysfunction, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Megan also has training in the Orton-Gillingham approach and she provides literacy intervention to children who need extra support in their literacy development. Megan always works from a strength-based perspective. Megan is passionate about working collaboratively with families to support clients to reach their full potential. Megan explains strategies in concrete, simple, and interactive ways which makes gaining skills that much more fun!
SAMIRA ZABAIN
M.Sc., Registered Provisional Psychologist (AB)
Samira (Sam) is a registered provisional psychologist, currently supervised by Dr. Keoma. She is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and their families through life’s successes and challenges. Sam specializes in addressing emotional and behavioral abilities while creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel understood and empowered. She prioritizes building strong therapeutic relationships to foster trust and resilience, drawing on evidence-based approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy, expressive arts therapy, and solution-focused therapy.
In addition to therapy, Sam provides comprehensive psychological assessments for individuals of all ages, focusing on areas of learning disabilities, giftedness, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, and executive functioning. She is committed to using evidence-based tools and approaches to deliver personalized recommendations from a strengths-based approach, to empower clients to thrive in their personal, academic, and social lives.
Speech-language Pathologists
ELYSHA CLAPP
M.Sc., Registered SLP (AB)
Elysha is a registered speech-language pathologist. She obtained her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Alberta in 2016. Elysha has experience in both assessment and treatment of various speech, language, and communication needs. Her areas of interest include pronunciation of sounds, literacy, vocabulary development, early language development, grammar, telling stories and giving more complex information, understanding spoken language, and social language. She specializes in working with children from 2 to 12 years old, and also enjoys working with older and younger clients.
Elysha develops individualized programming for each of her clients, based on their strengths and areas of interest. She collaborates with families and with other professionals to ensure that programming is well suited to each client. Engagement and motivation are key factors in learning, and Elysha strives to make each therapy session engaging and fun. Her clients often look forward to therapy sessions.
Elysha speaks French fluently, and obtained her Certificate in Francophone Practice (Certificat d’études supérieures spécialisées d’orthophonie en milieu francophone) from the University of Alberta (2016). She has a Bachelor of Arts in French from the University of Calgary (2012), and studied French Literature for one year at the Université Francois Rabelais in Tours, France. She worked for one year as an English instructor at the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, France.
ALISON HARDING
M.Sc., Registered SLP (AB) & Literacy Interventionist
Alison is a registered speech-language pathologist and parent of a preschooler. She completed her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Alberta in 2017, and has experience working in schools, homes, and private practice. Alison enjoys supporting clients with speech sound production, fluency, literacy, language development, and social communication. She has additional training in the Orton-Gillingham approach to literacy intervention.
Alison has a caring and thoughtful manner, and enjoys collaborating with families to make sessions engaging and meaningful. She continues to update her practice by reading research and participating in professional development courses. Outside of work, Alison loves spending time outdoors, exploring new activities with her family, and listening to podcasts. She looks forward to connecting with you!
Occupational Therapists
KIM DORAM
M.OT., Registered Occupational Therapist (AB)
Kim is a registered occupational therapist and Mom of two. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Master's of Occupational Therapy in 2011. Her passion for supporting children and families started over 20 years ago working as an aide in families' homes and schools, and has expanded and grown through her diverse experiences as an occupational therapist. Her experience spans from infants to young adults, and she has worked closely coaching and collaborating with families, and multi-disciplinary teams in a variety of environments. Kim has experience in both assessment and treatment in the areas of fine motor development, pre-printing/printing, keyboarding, executive functioning, sensory processing, and self regulation. She also targets daily living skills including; toilet training, mealtime/feeding/picky eating, and hygiene.
Kim is a lifelong learner who uses evidence-based approaches. She looks at the environment and how it can be adapted or changed to better support her clients. Kim brings warmth, creativity, and empathy to her work and sees the unique abilities of each child, youth, and family she works with.

TAYLOR FINNIE
B.Tech., Literacy Interventionist & Administrator
Taylor received her Bachelor of Technology in Criminal Justice degree while playing on the women’s varsity hockey team in Morrisville, NY. She is currently enrolled in a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology program through Yorkville University. With a background in administration in the medical, accounting, law, and insurance fields, Taylor is organized, timely, and detailed. She is passionate about working with children and families and also coaches youth hockey. She loves to be creative and try new crafting activities in her spare time.
Taylor has been a tutor and academic coach for several years. Through this work she has developed a passion for supporting children with literacy challenges. Taylor is knowledgeable in the science of reading and has experience intervening with literacy struggles. In addition, Taylor has training in the Orton-Gillingham approach. She provides consultations to families and direct intervention/tutoring to children with literacy learning disabilities or those needing extra support in their literacy development. Taylor's enthusiasm, experience, and creativity makes for engaging and interesting lessons while targeting literacy skill development.

LAURA MAXWELL

Laura is a communications coordinator and content creator. She obtained her Bachelor of Communication - Information Design degree from Mount Royal University in 2021, having studied abroad for a semester at FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences in Graz, Austria. Through her experiences at school and in numerous communications roles, she has cultivated skills in copywriting and copyediting, information architecture, human-centred design, UX/UI testing, graphic design, digital asset management, and social media content creation and management.
Laura produces and publishes content on Briovi's social media channels and helps maintain its expanding website. She strives to infuse each of Briovi's social posts with on-brand graphics, engaging copy, and snippets of knowledge surrounding child psychology and parenting approaches from Dr. Keoma!
